Dewi Plass // Passengers
solo show, July 13th – 28th, 2018 on view at Arch Enemy Arts, Philadelphia (USA)
“For this show, rather than focusing on the transience of life, I focused on nature’s capability to reinvent itself time and time again. I celebrate the innovation, creativity and resilience that lies within.”
Arch Enemy announces Passengers, the second AEA solo show from self-taught Dutch painter Dewi Plass. Following the success of 2017’s Liminal collection, Passengers’ initial inspiration comes from a line from anthropologist Tim Ingold’s writings on the Perception of the Environment.
“I argue that all creatures on this planet are passengers, continuously creating conditions that establish and secure each other’s existence.”
Through scenes of dependency and collaboration Dewi seeks to illustrate these symbiotic relationships as life itself, and the art of living by celebrating these collaborations as the very key to our collective survival.
